Dear People who Make Awards Shows…

The Oscars were last night, and wasn’t Ellen DeGeneres just a fabulous host?  As always. I mean, she ordered pizza!

We’ve had it pretty good this year when it comes to hosting. Tina and Amy at the Golden Globes, Actually NPH doing the Emmys AND the Tonys? Jimmy Fallon takes over the Tonight Show and Seth Meyers takes over Late Night. I mean really, does it get any better than that.

But sometimes those award show makers forget how great they have it. Don’t worry friends, I’ll remind them.

Dear people who make award shows, here are your choices for hosts of special events that are televised for the common people (me) to watch and obsess over.

Ellen DeGeneres – because it’s hard not to delight in anything she does

Neil Patrick Harris – because he will literally jump through hoops for you.  Also he has already hosted everything else.

Tina fey and Amy Poehler – again with the delight. Everything they do is delightful. Plus they’re the only hosts that the in person audience members seem to enjoy as much as we do at home. Just check out Glenn Close and Julia Louis Dreyfus playing along.

Jimmy Fallon – because I have a huge crush on him and I know I’m not alone. Seriously, who DOESN’T like Jimmy Fallon? Answer: No One. Also he just brings joy to everything he does… how great would it be to just see him geeking out and wailing about how lucky he is to be hosting the Oscars?

Billy crystal – because he’s a classic.

Seth Meyers – because “REALLY!” I just want to see him do something like this, PS he KILLED the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2011 and that is a rough room…

Aziz Ansari – He hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2010, which is, admittedly, a different room, but I’m pretty sure he’d be amazing at the Oscars too. If nothing else he would encourage us all to Treat Yo Self! (I WILL NEVER TURN DOWN A CHANCE TO SHARE THAT LINK!)

Nick Cannon – he has perfect hosting skills because he’s likable, up for anything, and keeps the show moving since he’s got to get home to Mariah.

Stanley Tucci and Elizabeth Banks – as Caesar Flickerman and Effie Trinket, because someday there NEEDS to be a Hunger Games themes Oscar night (May the Odds be ever in your favor Jlaw!)

Those are your choices. There’s not a bad one. Pick from those. It’s an embarrassment of riches.
