I’m pretty sure most who will be graduating this year have already done so, and I thought I’d help you celebrate with relevant internet links!
If you’re having trouble viewing the video above just check it out on Rhett and Link’s website, you won’t be sorry!
As much as I do think that we should follow our passions, I appreciate what Carl McCoy has to say about encouraging grads to do what they love… spoiler alert, he discourages it.
”Then there are those who love things that will never pay very well…When you’re working two or three jobs, and you can’t pay your bills, it doesn’t matter how much you love any of them. You just get worn out…Maybe all those commencement speakers would send more young people into the world likelier to be happy in their jobs if the speakers talked about love as a consequence of meaningful work instead of as the motivation for it.”
Just a warning, you may feel a little like this kitten after you graduate (admittedly this is just a way for me to put in my favorite cat video of the week…)
Majoring in English gets a bad rap for some reason. Something about it being too easy or not preparing you for the real world. Poppycock! For all you English majors that are graduating, or high school graduates that are considering becoming an English major (much like yours truly), here are some people who show that those common thoughts are completely ridiculous.
I love this message for graduates, but also everyone. Create your own hoops!
Did you graduate from something this year? Congratulations!
