At sea: Aloha!

Sorry for the lack of posts the last couple of days last week.  With 4 sea days in a row I was too exhausted to write scheduled posts once I got off a full day of work.  And honestly, once we finished our sea days I was enjoying Hawaii!
I hope you don’t mind if I jump back and forth in this blog… I don’t really have the means to do everything absolutely chronologically.
Anyway, last Thursday we made it to Hilo, Hawaii.  And, honestly, I might as well have been in any US suburb.  We had errands to run so we went to shopping centers and then a Starbucks for internet.  Hilo has a lot of opportunities for sightseeing, but we didn’t make plans in advance and the pier where we dock isn’t all that accessible to the town.
BUT, the next day we anchored in Lahaina, Maui.  And over the next few days I’ll show you some photos from there.  My most exciting discovery?  A banyan tree.  It’s the world’s largest and it covers this whole park.  It has several (what look like) trunks, and all the branches are interconnected.  Soooo cool.
Oh, and thanks to everyone for your concerns about our last Alaskan cruise.  Everyone was fine and safe, thanks to our wonderful navigational team.  It was a stressful week for them but they kept us all safe.
