Like every port we visit in Alaska, Ketchikan is a fishing town. Its historic area is called Creek Street. A couple weeks ago when we stopped there I went up to Creek Street and saw the salmon spawning. There’s a creek that runs right by the historic district and when you look down in it you can see the salmon swimming against the stream (I wish you could see the flow of water in my photo). And then littered on the rocks are the dead salmon that have already spawned… kind of morbidly amusing.
